ZĒLOS is a company with excellent olive products from the mountains of Cyprus and has been active for the last five years in Cyprus and abroad. The client requested a redesign of the packaging and therefore a renewal of the corporate identity. The care of the packaging design includes the choice of the bottle and the method of printing and packaging the product. It is worth mentioning that the packaging design pushed the product as premium even though it was not initially requested by the customer. Nevertheless, through the good cooperation of designer and customer, the design of olive oil has opened new business horizons for the company, both in the local and in the international market.
The design elements are borrowed from the Cypriot tradition and specifically handicrafts, such as basket weaving, embroidery and weaving with the aim of the semiotic link of the rural world, with the local and international market. An additional challenge during the design of the packaging was that these elements, which are now basic elements of the identity, simultaneously present the olive oil production process in an abstract and symbolic way, reflecting at the same time the small crafts from which the ZĒLOS products come. The choice of colors, consciously bold both for the product itself and for the place of origin and production, had been associated with the ZĒLOS brand from the beginning. The warm red reflects the name ZĒLOS itself, which naturally comes from the Greek "zeal", love and life, the white the purity of the product, and the black, from the raw material, the olive.
